Sonoma County Regional Parks offers 3 types of Junior Guard camps for kids 9-16 interested in learning lifeguard skills in a fun, interactive way.

- Lifeguard camp at Spring Lake
- Kayaking on the Russian River
- Surf Camp at Doran Beach
Although it's not clear in the titles, all 3 camps emphasize lifeguard skills, each in a unique setting. Even if your child is not interested in becoming a lifeguard, the camps are full of fun, activities, competitions, in a safe, wet environment.
Skills taught include:

- Paddleboard skills
- Boating safety
- First Aid
- CPR
- General guard duties
My 2 boys have been a part of Junior Guard camp for years and love it! Both went on to be Lifeguards In Training (LGIT) which is for older kids who have already attended the camps. LGITs help the counselors run the camps.

When: Begins June and runs thru summer in 1-week sessions
